Nowadays, our society was centrally ruled and shaped by technology. Technology changes the way we live, the way we think, and the way we connect with each other. Handy and convenient it may be, there still have been countless of debates on its neutrality.

Technology on its own existence is generally neutral- It is not inherently good nor bad but hangs solely on how it is used. We can therefore say that technology is a tool that highly depends its biases on how it is programmed and used. Technology can be programmed depending on the programmer’s idea of its usage and the consumer’s needs in a current situation.

In this context, communication in the new technological age does have certain advantages and disadvantages values attached to it. This technology was programmed to provide a great exchange of information and connection between people but it can also be used to abuse and persecute.

In a nutshell, we can say that technology is morally neutral; neither good nor bad and only it’s uses have moral and political value, not its existence itself. Knowing this, it’s our responsibility to use technology for the betterment of the society, not its doom.
