Evaluating My Personal Storage
What possible problems do you think might occur in the future that will prevent you from accessing your digital files?
Storage media over time may decay, resulting to corrupted files. This media may become unsupported by updated software’s and computers that provide access to them. Another issue that we may encounter is security, a computer drive may be accessed by unauthorized third parties that can result to destruction, alteration, and reproduction of our personal files. Moreover, malware and worms can also be a factor for the corruption of our digital files thus it had the ability to disrupt and damage a computer system. These situations are common problems that might occur in accessing our digital files in the future.
What possible ways can you mitigate the chance of that risk from happening?
According to Alton (2020), the media that we stored in devices had the potential to be corrupted. The basic solution for this is to back-up our data into physically distinct accessible locations. In doing this we can reduce the risk of us losing our important data’s. Having also data security, including data encryption in our important documents such as files, accounts, and devices can be a great help in protecting our data. Lastly, being a wise and responsible user of web and having a reliable, secured and easy access service provider can help in mitigating these kinds of situations.
